Seoul

Ed Space is back on the road again, and this time we're in Seoul, Korea! Spent the night here on a stopover to London. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant then took the subway to Dongdaemon Stadium where they have the night markets. The subway was awesome and the people were really friendly and helped us buy tickets and get on the right train. Almost. We kinda took the train in the wrong direction...but we got there in the end! (Btw...the train itself was awesome - really clean and there were these moving advertisments outside the windows in the tunnel - really great!).

One thing I noticed about Koreans is they all kind of look the same. And no, I don't mean it in that way! I mean...like all the guys have the same flat, neat hair cuts and so do the girls. Weird.

Anyway, we had a walk around the night markets (reminiscent of the Pasar Malam in Malaysia), stopping for drinks at a little cafe (I had a "traditional drink made from rice established since 1993"). We then walked some more and had supper at a small corner restaurant. Speaking no Korean, we kind of randomly pointed to the photos on the wall and got the lady to prepare something for us. She laid the table out with all these plates of kimchi. It was a fairly busy place for a Tuesday night - groups of people eating and drinking bottles of that Korean rice wine, a couple nestled away in the corner. Anyway, Dad had this rice dish where you mix all the ingredients together and it was nice. I had a spicy, hot and sourish broth with chicken and potatoes and weird noodle things and rice. It was yummy. We were both stuffed especially since this was technically our second dinner. It was getting late, so we headed back to the hotel after that and watched some Korean TV which was pretty cool - they had this like panel show and half the people on it were white and they spoke perfect Korean! Respect!

Just had breakfast buffet (Western/Asian style - I had kimchi again!) and heading off to the airport. Not only has Korean Airlines provided us with free hotel accommodation, dinner and breakfast, they've also given us another food voucher for the airport!

Just a few photos. Enjoy!

Dad ready to fall asleep! What a long day!
