A good film watched in childhood, then re-watched as an adult, is like a visit from an old friend - there is something comforting about the experience that lets you relax and remember the past through rose coloured glasses. Clicheed plots, familiar characters and minimal special effects make for a pleasant, uncluttered viewing.
Chicken and Duck Talk is such a film. This old, childhood friend visited me today in the form of a series of "youtube" clips which Winston had messaged me the link to. I greeted it with open arms, this blast from the past. The story is your typical "David and Goliath" battle - a small, family run roast duck store is threatened by a new fast food fried chicken chain store that opens across the road. The proprietor of the roast duck store, Ah Hui (played by Michael Hui), sets out to save his dying business through a series of crazy and hilarious antics. His mishaps and unwavering fight will leave you cheering for this underdog. The film also touches on the importance of friendship and family, tradition, change and acceptance.
The film is sweet, predictable and laugh-out-loud funny. Go watch it: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dw7vNexk8XA
And say hello to an old friend.
(Thanks to Winston for telling me that it was on youtube, and thanks to SunKen1984 for putting it up!)

I also watched The Gods Must Be Crazy recently as well.. that was still funny too!
But then I watched Monkey Magic (for about 5 minutes) and I realised that I must have been very very easily impressed as a kid.

It's the Tracie from uni (i think she's also known as "loser").
I never got to watch The Gods Must Be Crazy. I was always told that it wasn't worth watching or something? i can't remember. i'll watch it. and yeh..monkey magic lol. funny.

i always wondered what happened to her after uni....

NO Alex... you should ask eddie... i'm really really fat now... i think i weigh 254.6 kg... (but that was before i ate the 3 kg worth of pizza, so i probably weigh 257 kg now (0.6kg being lost from all the exercise required to eat 3 kg worth of pizza).
But it doesn't matter does it?! Coz it's what is inside that counts... (sure i have a fatty liver but you only live once).
